Students are expected to spend 20-30 minutes fortnightly completing Computer Science home learning. Home learning tasks will consist of a mixture of activities including question and answer via Google Forms, various online platforms to improve their programming skills, touch typing and wider knowledge of Computer Science. At the end of each half-term students will be expected to revise for end of topic tests. These tasks are designed to enable students to practise good study habits, consolidate learning and embed knowledge in their long-term memory.Key Stage 3
Students will routinely be set a weekly quiz on Smart Revise. The quiz will be a mixture of questions from the topic(s) they are currently learning and earlier topics. These quizzes are to support students in developing a habit of retrieval practice to consolidate the core knowledge which underpins a good understanding of Computer Science. Each week students should spend up to 45 minutes completing the quiz. Some weeks students will also be set some written work to complete, usually in the form of a question sheet or practice exam questions. Guidance for independent learning in Computer Science can be found here. Students are expected to spend 45-60 minutes completing their creative iMedia home learning each week. Tasks will involve finishing tasks linked to their coursework and/or completing exam-style questions, revision for end of unit tests or completing learning tasks on various online platforms. They are desgined to embed knowledge and refine exam technique. All tasks and instructions will be set on Google Classroom.Key Stage 4
