Chartered Teacher Pathway
‘CTeach has been the best professional development of my career, providing me with support and guidance to implement evidence based practice in my classroom.’ – Alison Benn, Teacher of Maths, Beaumont School
Beaumont School and Sir John Lawes School are proud to work in partnership with the Chartered College of Teaching to offer the Chartered Teacher Pathway. This is a route to Chartered Teacher Status, offering recognition to effective teachers, developing their expertise and celebrating excellence in the classroom, without any expectation of a formal leadership role. The pathway is flexible, allowing participants to follow it as far as they choose and to set their own pace. Assessment and accreditation are carried out by the Chartered College of Teaching
Those following our Chartered Teacher Pathway will be accredited for each assessment they pass, with those who complete the pathway gaining Chartered Teacher Status. Participants are recognised for evidence-informed, high quality teaching, bringing benefits to their students. Participation will also support teachers’ understanding of effective classroom practice, research and professional development. These benefits accrue not only to individual teachers, but also to their schools, because participants share their expertise and have an impact beyond their own classroom, contributing to a culture of learning and research engagement amongst their colleagues. The first step on the Chartered Teacher Pathway is the Expertise in Teaching Certificate, and we are currently recruiting a cohort to commence in January 2026. Participants will have the option to ‘cash in’ this unit as a standalone accreditation or to pursue their journey further along the pathway towards Chartered Teacher Status. Any teachers wishing to participate should apply using our online application form. Since the Google Form advances section by section, you may wish to start by looking at the full content of it, which can can be found here. Our deadline for applications is 1st December 2025.
Further information can be found in our leaflet and there is also more detail about Chartered Teacher Status on the Chartered College website. If you are interested in applying, but have further questions, or if you are thinking about promoting the Chartered Teacher Pathway to colleagues in your school, please email charteredteacher@beaumont.school and we will be very glad to talk to you.
