Start of the Year
The 2020-21 academic year begins on Thursday 3rd September, for Years 7-12 and Wednesday 2nd September, for Year 13.
In line with the Government’s current guidance on students returning to school, we have designated arrival and leaving times for each Year Group, as well as the use of specified entrances. Where possible, students should arrive on foot and only at the entrances listed below. It is important that Year Groups only enter the school at these points to ensure that all Year Groups are kept apart. Further information on daily arrival times and leaving times for the new academic year, from Friday 4th September, can be found here.
The Local Authority has released Returning to School guidance for parents, which can be read here.
Students in Years 7 to 11 should arrive in full winter uniform. They should also bring with them a suitable face mask for use in indoor communal areas, such as corridors (unless they are exempt). A statement from the DfE on the use of face masks (25.8.20) can be viewed here. General guidance from the Government on wearing face masks (27.8.20) can be viewed here. Further guidance (including an information video) can be found here.
The first day of the new school year is phased, so that different Year Groups arrive at and leave at different times. It is designated a ‘pastoral day’, in which students will spend the whole time with their Form Tutors. It will be an opportunity for students to learn and understand the new arrangements in school.
