Music Masterclasses and Collaborations

Masterclasses with leading musicians and collaborations with artists ensure our students are constantly in touch with the wider world around them. The Music Department organises opportunities for professional musicians to give careers advice and inspirational instrument demonstrations.

In recent years, masterclasses have been provided by Jonny Watkins – Co-founder and Director of the National Youth Concert Band – and established composer and co-principal oboist of Britten Sinfonia, Peter Facer. In December 2024, for the school carol service, our 100-strong choir was accompanied by the Official Harpist to the Prince of Wales, Mared Pugh-Evans. As part of the Year 7’s ‘Arts Day’, students have also had the opportunity to interview internationally renowned violinist, Roberts Balanas, and former Royal Harpist, Anne Denholm.
